On Saturday, Race & Taste Day – the event which combines fabulous food and plenty of racing action – will be staged at Rosehill Gardens racecourse.
A part of Sydney Turf Club’s Winter Racefest Program, Race & Taste features the running of the Missile Stakes.
With only three Saturdays of racing before the official start of Sydney’s spring carnival on 30 August, Rosehill Gardens’ Winter Racefest sees the gradual return of last season’s stars as well as the rise of this State’s up-and-coming thoroughbreds.
Previous winners of the Group 3 Missile Stakes, which is staged over 1100m, include multiple Group 1 winners Lonhro and Spark of Life as well as former Golden Slipper winners Dance Hero and Guineas.
Rosehill Gardens trainer Tim Martin is due to start his Group 1 Galaxy winner Typhoon Zed in the race after he scored a first-up third place during the recent Grafton Carnival.
Apart from the racing action on course, Race & Taste Day is an ideal family outing. Sumptuous cuisine including food tasting and live jazz are planned for the adults and non-stop entertainment and amusement rides for the kids.
Junior racegoers will be kept busy throughout the day with rides on the jumping castle, mini ferris wheel, spinning teacup ride and vertical bungee; animal petting farm; and free popcorn.
The TAB has also joined in the festivities with ‘Jackpot Saturday’ again taking place in August at Rosehill Gardens. There’s currently over $90,000 in the Quaddie jackpot kitty and over $110,000 in First 4 Jackpots.
The TAB will run a racebook competition where one lucky patron will win a $250 jackpot bet or a $500 if they are a TAB account holder.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $4 concession and children under 18 years who are accompanied by an adult are admitted for free.
